The Ryan McGuire Pseudo Gallery is a free standing gallery space I constructed and painted on the second floor of the Ithaca Antique Center. It gets its name because it's an art gallery that is located in an unconventional location. The goal for the gallery is to give inspiring artists an opportunity to display their work in a less critical and competitive setting.
In addition to providing a space for inspiring artists I also mentor many of these artists, helping them frame, label, hang, price, and assisting with the promotion for their opening art reception. I provide my help at no charge and if an artist sells work, they get to keep all of the money.
Unconventional galleries like the Pseudo Gallery are needed more than ever because without it, many artists would never be given a chance to share their amazing work with the world.
